This is exciting….my real first post on my new and improved blog! The Mies family really is something special. When Sarah originally emailed me telling me she wanted photos of her family…3 kids… inside her home, i’m not gonna lie, I was a little nervous. It’s always a little tricky doing photos inside, the light is a major factor in photos, and beautiful light really inspires me and let’s me run wild with endless photo ops! I arrived at Sarah’s house one freezing cold day, Sarah and her mom were still hanging up photos in rooms, and the kids were just hanging out eating blueberries and raspberries in the kitchen. I was pleasantly surprised with their style, their house was absolutely amazing, Sarah you can design my house one day 😉 It was so simple and bright, their windows and neutral walls just made the lighting soft and magical in these photos. Let me tell you…THESE KIDS…they were so stinkin great for their shoot too! When photographers tell you they want to do a lifestyle shoot, you might wonder exactly what they mean. This family shoot is the epitome of a lifestyle shoot. I captured this family in THEIR element, their hair didn’t have to be perfect, their outfits didn’t have to be perfect…the emotion is what I love to capture. I wanted to capture how sweet, innocent, and shy Penelope was. I wanted to capture Max with his sword because he is obsessed with Ninja Turtles at the moment (not to mention I called him Raphael the whole time ;)). I wanted to capture Harrison’s gorgeous eyes and sweet personality shining through. I had so much fun with these 5, you can honestly see how happy and how much they love each other in these photos. Sarah and Mike, you guys just radiate love…seriously. I can’t wait to have a family one day and am so thankful I met you! I am counting down the days until we have another shoot 😉 ENJOY!
